Kids Kingdom!

In a crazy ironic twist, Catherine decided it would be a great idea to celebrate her 18th Birthday by re-living her childhood!

Thus myself, Ros, drew and Su and Catherines' school friends found ourselves sprinting across rope ladders, balancing on giant red balls and throwing ourselves down a death slide at Kids Kingdom!

Seriously guys... we all got to do this sometime!!!

You even get to bring your own music!! (Up there for me would have to be 'Dangerzone' from the Top Gun sound track!)

I did at first wonder how it might turn out, (would we, twenty-somethings, simply find a nice spot within the ball-pit put to discuss car insurance and mortgages for the night?), but before I knew it I was running around like an eight year old... chasing my wife!

Gell and Sarah's Honeymoon

The long awaited Honeymoon was quality.

Here are a few pictures, (courtesy of Chris's camera, cheers mate!).

Sarah is at a local market mingling with the Maltese people like she had lived there all her life! Tremendous effort.

It's a bus, but not like the one's in this country!

Look it's a statue with a baseball cap! How funny!

Behind this local fisherman and cat friend you can see the fabulous Fortina Spa Hotel which provided our accomodation and dining experiences throughout our week long break.

I had a truly amazing time with my beautiful wife, in fact I think we'll probablly have another honeymoon next year (and why the devil not eh!?)

Major Catch up!!!

My my my!

What fun we've had. To be honest I've forgotten the order we did it all in. Feel free to correct me, but I do remember it happening something like this...

One sunday we gathered for a community meal at Phil and Emmas! Phil posted lots of great quotes up on the walls about hospitality and Ian told a story from the Bible before we shared bread and wine together. Was great also to see Mark and Anna from Chi!

Then Rob sang a bit of kareoke! (howdoyouspell?)

So then, if I remember wrongly,

There was a Mens' Prayer Breakfast at Dewi's!
Which started like this...

And ended like this...

I very nearly stacked it on the top of the railway bridge due to the slippery frost but managed to make it safely over where we all congregated in his warm kitchen and fed both our stomaches and our souls before heading off to work.

Later was Chris' surprise birthday bowling party...which I have no picture for....(but Dewi does!!) I very much enjoyed watching Gell pelt it down the lane like a mad 'barbarian-bowler' swinging the ball 360 degrees before letting go, watching the ball fly at great speed and stepping back to check his miles per hour score. This was greatly contrasted to Chris' technique, who walked up to the lane very slowly and calmly, and simply placed the ball on the ground, whereby some deep magic the ball shot down the lane at similar speed like it had a mind of its own. Amazing!

Then the Birthday celebrations continued with Rich's curry night on Friday!

Was great to have the whole place to ourselves, laughing and merrymaking. At one point a full mexican wave was attempted only to be disrupted at both ends by those in the yellow shirts!!

Later Rich gave an interesting short Birthday speech about us all needing to pay about £10 each including drinks. Was a great night!

And then....it was Jos Birthday!!!

With a great music playlist, drapes and a wonderful mix of Romford people and candles that refused to blow out, even when Jo squashed them.

Thus ends the longest Blog ever, possibly in completely the wrong order with all the wrong spellings. Which leads me one final question...

Girl's Prayer Morning (with large home-made cookies!)

On the morning of Jo's birthday (27th January 2007), Jo, Sue and Ros all gathered round to Sarah's house to eat large and lumpy home-made cookies, share stuff and pray for each other! Thanks for your wonderful prayers, girls, and I know we can't wait to do this again with ALL the other girlies too!

Our grateful thanks to Dewi and Sarah for letting us use their home (especially Dewi who had to 'disappear' for the morning, and was found lurking outside of his own house hoping Jon would rescue him!)

Met at Dewi and Sarahs' for two gigantic lasagnes, veggie pizza and Emas legendary banoffi pie! We discussed about living 'community'! Lots of great and honest things said, lots of great different veiw points and expect there'll be many more discussions like it in the future as we journey together! Then we prayed. Then Dewi showed me his plastering and I was very impressed.

Meal at Helen and Ians'

'…on Sunday we hosted our first open community meal at Helen and Ian’s. Having talked a lot, our intention is to practice what we’ve been talking about, and learning together a lot more this year. Central to this is our desire to develop our spiritual lives around our meal-times and the day-to-day stuff of our lives – as Jean Varnier describes, to live hospitably, to live lives of welcome and invitation, lives that say “come in”, join in. Around twenty of us met and ate and talked and broke bread together on Sunday. I spoke for a few minutes about living our community lives outwardly and intentionally, and then we ‘greeted’ one another with the Maori Honghi welcome I’d learnt in New Zealand. The kids loved it. And so did I… this is the beginning of the next phase of our lives, I’m sure…'

Dans' 23rd Birthday at Beekash!

Soley was on top form as was Dan ofcourse! A good curry had by all and the longest and loudest Birthday song every played through resturaunt speakers! The whole curry house joined in singing and even swaying and dancing in unison while the rest of us were rendered speechless. Finally after no less than 5 verses, (one about Donald and Rupert and all his friends?) and a breakdown to accapella!?! one of the waiters decided it might be time to press the stop button.

After which it was back to Dans for freestyling.

Lovely early morning winter feeling driving through the rain in darkness at 6:30am picked up in Dewi's car and stepping out into a gigantic puddle on way to Gells'. Gell cooked so much good food we nearly didn't get time to pray! Enough to fill a whole square plate with hash browns too! Wonderful to pray for each other while the sun rose over Romford!
