MONDAY - 4/6/07

Jesus, I give to you all my worries and concerns for the week ahead,
and begin this week with you...

Christ be with me, Christ within me,Christ behind me, Christ before me,Christ beside me, Christ to win me,Christ to comfort and restore me.Christ beneath me, Christ above me,Christ in quiet, Christ in danger,Christ in hearts of all that love me,Christ in mouth of friend and stranger.
I bind unto myself today the strong name of the Trinity.

thanks jon. we read it together this morning at breakfast ... and even Esme listened as I read the words 'Christ before me...'. Lovely moment.

P.S. She didn't clap at the end, but maybe tomorrow...! :)

I read it in my office. Even though I was on my own, I found myself half-way through the prayer replacing the "me" with "us" as I felt connected with everyone else doing the same thing. Thanks.

fantastic. andrea and i just prayed our way through this and talked about it's meaning in our lives a bit.

don't know if you know, but this is the final part of St Patrick's 'Lorica' (which means 'breastplate') prayer. you can read the whole thing online in loads of places (try here - http://orthodoxwiki.org/Patrick_of_Ireland)

allegedly, when patrick and his friends prayed this, they were hiding from people who were out to kill them. the story goes that their pursuers only saw 'deer', not men, and patrick escaped.

this prayer is also known as the 'deer's cry'. wow!

thanks jon! ;o)
